bronze beauty {kate moss}

this Vogue campaign with Kate Moss as a castaway took my breath away, her lips shimmer with a lipgloss for summer like this that I love a nude with a champagne simmer

 a glimpse of beautiful bronze skin with just the right lighting showing off her glow
long leather straps that wind around the legs are my favorite for summer

for hair, dry shampoos with color like these work wonders for your streaky locks

what are you wearing on your skin this summer?

I just pulled out this bronzer if I can look half as good as Kate I'm happy

The wow factor with make up colors like this palette of golds and bronze and champagne a good rule of thumb for a 5 minute quickie when it comes to summer make up, my personal favorite for summer are creams. If you want to add a little powder try this Citrus infused one from Jurlique. What gives you the wow factor for summer skin? More summer fun tips here.

glittery metallic eyes + {don't forget to clean your brushes}

high impact eyes gold, glittery eyes

can easily be downplayed

with just a touch of shimmer  in the inner eye corners, L'Oreal make up info here
 high impact eyes like the ones above or easy on the eye shimmer for a day to evening look
can easily be worn this summer with minimal make up, and a bronzy glow. What is your idea of an eye-catching effect to make your eyes pop this summer?
Don't forget to clean your bristles

Some favorite brush cleaners recommended by make up artists like myself are here and here
I use mine in a spray bottle so I can clean immediately after using, softly pat on a soft, white, terry towel until all make up residue is gone
As a Make up Artist that's always been #1 on my list, somehow at home with my own make up brushes I slack off until a break out occurs. Usually the best way to clean them is to use shampoo I used this one because it was in my shower and I know that it's a great cleansing shampoo without stripping (Care for the bristle hair is important). * I dip mine in the sink with sudsy, shampoo and dip again into clean water until it is clear. More fun to get your shine on here
* works well with sable haired brushes

hair to make up {tips + links}

Yesterday in the Salon I received these pretty products from the lovely Carina over at Everyday Minerals. My clients scheduled hair appointment turned into a make up demo as well. I love to see what's in your make up bag of tricks!

I've been searching for a new foundation and this one is lovely on my client a little heavy for me, but I liked the coverage, my tip for summer* mix a little moisturizer with a heavier foundation so it becomes more of a tinted moisturizer.

 This pressed powder was used as a highlighter under eyes, *my tip for summer I prefer a glow and love primers like this one from Fresh that leave a little more radiance.
heaven on earth with this little souffle pot of gold. Perfect for an eye primer not too shimmery either and just glides on. A dusting of floating feather's is so sheer and could easily be used as a highlighter.

Speaking of gold, expect to drop a chunk of it for this decadent eye liner. My clients liner looked ooh lalalicious and not too overdone. Another alternative and my favorite gel liner is by Bobbie Brown. For a great tutorial Scroll down and click on the smokey under eye slideshow. A make up artist never knows enough, I love good tips.

Did I mention my client likes luxury treatment? She deserves it too, this mascara works wonders on her, my personal experience too heavy for me and weighed down my lashes  J'adore Dior

a little bronzer like this one from Mac can easily be a staple for contouring as well as adding a summer glow. You can also choose one with shimmer, I like both, *not a big shimmer fan add a little on your decolletage and see how many compliments you get!

The lips, love this color another favorite is Orgasm gloss by Nars.
By the way this shimmery pot was a dead ringer for Super Orgasm blush, and more than half the price!

There you have it my friends a little love for my client Cristiina for sharing her make up bag and to Carina at Everyday Minerals. Check out her site and all of the fun things she incorporates with her philanthropy and this blog. Happy Weekend to you!

argan oil + jose maran

Before I started blogging I would tear out articles like this one from Elle Magazine that inspired me. Who would have know that this article about the botanical phenomenon Argan Oil would be synonymous with this make up line I had just sampled at Sephora. The oil has a multitude of uses to moisturize skin, hair, cuticles and even a pimple cure as seen here. I will definitely try it but for now a little tea tree oil will do. Love the feel and coverage of Jose Maran tinted moisturizer and the Argan Oil moisturizing stick is great for a little pick me up to hydrate during the day around the eye area and above my cheekbones. I love that she is a "giving back," kind of girl. Her bare naked wipes sound like a treat themself. With these ingredients to wipe off your make up, aloe vera, cucumber, and vitamin E. A portion of every package sold will go to protect the polar bears.  Eco-Friendly packaging glowing skin, Finger paint creme palettes containing four feather-light shimmers that bring soft-glowing color to eyes, cheeks, and lips.
 Another plus for all purchases of Josie Maran cosmetics here until February 1, 50% will be donated to American Red Cross for Haiti.

she is a work of art

Kat Von D is the celebrity tattoo artist that is giving me some much needed inspiration this week in the Salon. I love to watch her in action on her show LA ink. With her beautifully tattooed skin and all of the stories they tell with artistic script and color it Inspires me to go back into the Salon and be a more adventurous artist myself with hair color and make up. I just wonder how she bronzes up with all the tats. I love that she is Latina from Argentina and has a cool make up line with some pretty bold smoky colors just like the colors you would think of in a tattoo.
Another dose of inspiration this weekend came from my visit to a Baptist Church. Leave it to my Mother to Know the right dress code for this service, dressy! The days of dressing down for Church are all too common. I like old school way of getting dressed up seeing men with ties on and women in hats and heels. I was so inspired by Pastor Lucious Smith opening and closing message for the Michael Jackson memorial. When I found out his Church was in my hometown I was so there. All it took was a holler out and my Mother and sissy were able to join. We held hands singing with the choir, what a service filled with a beautiful message of Heal the World a nod to Michael Jackson's legacy and a need to show others that we need to "Walk the Walk," not just "Talk the Talk," in making the world a better place. Did I hear an AMEN?

J'adore dior

Nothing makes me happier than feeling the glow and hydration of good skin. Beside what I do daily to make my self look and feel the best. A good nights sleep and daily exercise can also be complimented with good skin care and great make up. I love to indulge in Dior skin care starting with my eyes. Capture Totale for eyes contains a rare Longoza plant combined with Centuline which prolongs the youthful appearance of the skin, it does work because I recently took a break and used a cheaper version of another eye cream and could see what I was missing. Capture Totale is like an instant eye lift. Next Dior HydrAction Deep Hydration Radical Serum before applying foundation gives a moisture boost to the skin with natural radiance. In warmer weather a tinted moisturizer such as Diorskin Nude a fresh, weightless, foundation, and finish hydrates the skin as it conceals imperfections and creates a radiantly, natural, true-life glow. Diorskin Nude is perfect for summer bare skin with an added bonus of SPF 10. Diorskin Shimmer Star a sheer and shimmering all-over face bronzer brightens the complexion with an of translucent sparkles that can be used on the eyes and cheeks or all over for instant glow. For drenched lips nothing adds color and instant seductiveness than a swipe of Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss Reflect on the lips in shimmering Lacy Apricot. To complete the look for eyelashes that look like butterflies, start with Diorshow Black Out Mascara saturate with one to two coats of this mascara with it’s unique blend of black pigments to lengthen and add the doe-eyed effect, finish off with Diorshow Mascara for glamorous thicker lashes. When it’s time to take it all off, Duo-Phase Eye Makeup Remover removes all traces of make up gently and leaves lashes soft to the touch. You can leave on your Miss Dior Chérie with it’s citrusy freshness and a jasmine heart sprinkled with fruity strawberry notes,and the elegance of patchouli will rest assured sweet dreams to you and me. Buona notte.
