headbands for fall {how to tease}

A headband or braided tuft of hair should look effortless like this, accessorizing can even start with your own hair
The undone bun is where it's at. a little muss with no fuss looks better and easier on your hair!
I see a lot of these headbands at the gym, to give it daytime look a how to below
How darling is this look? A simple added headband and oversized cat eye glasses make a statement.
How to tools: hair pins, tease brush, paddle brush, (elastics not shown)
A paddle brush can be used to smooth out snarls. The little tease brush is a sure way to add fun to your swift little updo. I like to tease starting at the base, and continue on adding a little more hair, spray and smooth. Tuck away any unwanted strays with hairpins.
Headbands can be found every where from Target, H&M, Forever 21 and never a bad hair day with Jennifer Behr pom-pom headgear here, I tend to be a less is more gal, I would be happy with just one  favorite from Anthropologie, what about you? Where are you finding your headgear?

baby it's hot out here

With temperatures in the triple digits in L.A. keeping hydrated and cool is the way to go. Earlier morning walks and lingering over coffee leaves me less time for my own hair, but that's when the ease of soft, tossled, waves, make for a day to evening do.  All the ladies in the salon stay cool  as we twist up our hair in top knots, and braids, and keep clients feeling cool and pampered with a refreshing drink as the enter the salon. A cool rinse after a conditioning treatment is not only good for the hair but feels oh so nice.
How about you, how are you staying cool this summer?  Just looking at these images for inspiration of simple knots, an upswept pony tail, a fun alternative to braids, and classic chignons help
keep me cool!

summer buns

Summer buns,  Do you love them? Imagine my delight when I caught sight of these piled high chignons, perfect for summer!
Blondes do look lovely with this look. Smoke it out with a sexy eye like this and barely there lip stain also by Scott Barnes here.
Imagine my extra excitement when I saw this little bottle my chair side tool also the styling spray of choice for the looks here

Just a little side note about the tutorials, I think Scott Barnes is an amazing make up artist, I don't however agree with lighting your eye pencil before applying. My tip* choose a softer, mineral oil free, black or dark brown pencil for this look, and make sure to sharpen regularly.
*This helps to keep pencil free from bacteria especially when using around the eye.
