beauty and sleep {night table reading}

No matter how much make up I buy or how nutritious I eat
It can never replace the benefit of a good nights sleep

My bedside reading, "It's Not Really About the Hair," by Tabatha Coffey is so inspiring. She has been called many a B word in her confrontations with fellow stylists previously on Shear Genius and on her current hit show. She stands up for what she believes in and calls it like it is without sugar coating it. Take a good look at yourself, she warns before you stand behind the chair look at yourself first, do you even look the part? Point taken, until my grows as long as my favorite Miami Housewife there is no reason not to have a cool side part ponytail like this. Tabs also reminds us of the effect we have on our clients. Providing a great haircut or color service truly can effect how clients feel on the inside. To have such power in my fingertips, I do consider a gift. It's what we do with these gift's in life that matters, right? Are you currently reading something that inspires you?

color me pretty {make-up monday}

Shopping for make up is always an experience even for this make up artist
The lovely Olivia Palermo inspires me, with a pop of pink on her pouty lips, how-to, tips below
Currently growing out my hair and loving these upswept romantic updo's
 If I can find some as dazzling jewels as her's from Forever 21 I will be one happy girl

It's Monday and I have make up on the mind. A little Sephora shopping trip never hurts.
Yesterday in the company of a five year old, It's not surprising I couldn't keep her away from the colorful pops of pink all over. She even inspired me to ditch my natural neutrals and try a little pop of color for spring. A little blotting with a soft tissue after applying color leaves a soft stain on those pouty lips. Of course I had to remind her of the rules of testing out make up from a counter. Sanitize your hands first, wipe off excess before applying. Use new and sanitary applicator brushes and sponges only. Don't hesitate about asking for a new tester if you are serious about purchasing especially for lip and eye products where the double dipping usually occurs.  Feeling like showing off a little skin I left with an illuminating tinted moisturizer and some oil free foundation that lets my skin glow. dainty and demure {hair by malcom edwards}

undone hair has a bit of a romantic feel when you pair it with a headband
leaving a hair mask in my ever growing long hair I added a floral headband to a soft messy chignon
 I even tried on a hat, this one reminds me of the bowler hat in one of my favorite movies here
 a simple headband can do wonders and a floral one can dress up even a bad hair day
Just remember this season it's not about perfect but you can still keep it soft and sexy

I was over the top when I saw this editorial. It only seems suiting that Malcom Edwards would be the lead hairdresser. I have long been a fan of his over the top hair, much like Tim Walker inspired editorials grandiose in presentation and eye catching appeal. Have you noticed the hair all over the runway's this season mimic a very soft, sexy, and ruffled appearance and lots of braids like this one? For everyday off the runway here are some great tips from the man himself. My favorite Malcom Edwards editorial with the lovely Kate Moss here . Some lovely headbands here

grammy gold inspiration {Karen Elson for St. John}

What's not to love about Karen Elson especially the red hair, reminiscent of this season's sensually, seductive, Wella  passionista
the bling in this gown gives the little black dress a whole new meaning

Did you watch the Grammy's?  I loved the opening act a soulful tribute to Aretha Franklin. Jennifer Hudson did it best for me. She looks amazing and you can tell she feels it too. Who were your favorites? Did you like or loathe Lady Gaga and her embryo entrance? I loved her performance, and her new music has a great beat. Although It would have been nice to see Justin Bieber win, I agree with the critics he has plenty of time to come. Best new artist Esperanza Spalding is clearly talented, and her acceptance speech was so touching and gratuitous. Jennifer Lopez looked liked a beautiful disco ball. Rhianna's red hair is hot, not sure about the dress but loved her performance with Eminem.  Katy Perry sang like an Angel even Nicole Kidman sang along. I missed Gwyneth, but saw enough Grammy after shows to notice that her trainer Tracy Anderson is keeping that body looking lean and mean. Perhaps one day she'll be like Mick Jagger,  rocking the house to a standing ovation.

fashion week {a smashing week}

backstage action at fashion week
hairstylists leave your ego at the and door let your passion flow
smooth styling and setting
can create a beautiful work of art
a glimpse of Anna is always nice too.

Like many who work in the beauty industry I have had the honor of working various fashion shows.
The nervousness, anticipation, sleepless nights, and long work days, are quickly forgotten when the runway show begins. I am a team player thats my strength. When you are working in a flurry of model mania and a time limit, many times two hands are not enough. I have lent many a helping hand and have been given in return. I love the backstage action, It's an adrenaline rush. What excites you in your creative outlet? More inspiration from my favorite Wella artist Eugene Soleilman here
