pin me up

Sexy, soft, silhouettes, like this, are timeless and make me want to pin up some hair and watch as a style comes to life
have you noticed red is taking over in the hair color department?

What do you think? Is she better as a redhead or blonde?

I hope you spend some time dreaming, and reading, and doing the things you love this weekend.
Ah the allure of a luxurious bath and some salts to soak my aching feet, it's been a busy day.

grammy gold inspiration {Karen Elson for St. John}

What's not to love about Karen Elson especially the red hair, reminiscent of this season's sensually, seductive, Wella  passionista
the bling in this gown gives the little black dress a whole new meaning

Did you watch the Grammy's?  I loved the opening act a soulful tribute to Aretha Franklin. Jennifer Hudson did it best for me. She looks amazing and you can tell she feels it too. Who were your favorites? Did you like or loathe Lady Gaga and her embryo entrance? I loved her performance, and her new music has a great beat. Although It would have been nice to see Justin Bieber win, I agree with the critics he has plenty of time to come. Best new artist Esperanza Spalding is clearly talented, and her acceptance speech was so touching and gratuitous. Jennifer Lopez looked liked a beautiful disco ball. Rhianna's red hair is hot, not sure about the dress but loved her performance with Eminem.  Katy Perry sang like an Angel even Nicole Kidman sang along. I missed Gwyneth, but saw enough Grammy after shows to notice that her trainer Tracy Anderson is keeping that body looking lean and mean. Perhaps one day she'll be like Mick Jagger,  rocking the house to a standing ovation.

cut it out {holiday hairdos}

How can something so messy looks so sexy?
Side swept updo with a few wisps left out
headbands are not just for the gym a little embellishment to a sleek beehive
This look reminds me of my favorite lovely Latina, Eva Mendes
Pretty little twists make your party exit unforgettable
I love this eye catching look along with the messy low slung knot

Always open to new ideas when clients bring me tear sheets of a hair cut or style. Here are some Holiday hair do's for you to take to your hairdresser to share, or try yourself. Here are some of my favorites, What about yours? you can browse for more holiday hairdo's here

color me red

When I saw the new fall campaign for St John I gasped with an insane desire to change my newly highlighted honey hues to this rich crimson color

ah.. sweaters for fall how I have missed you

When making a change, sometimes a little encouragement is all we need

I could totally see myself going for drinks in this outfit!
Inspired by Saturday nights summer cocktail offerings including, Jamaica  (pronounced hah-MIKE-ah)  a latin inspired drink made from hibiscus tea leaves with a lovely red hue to it.  Non-alcoholic recipe here.

Lovely burnished copper tones,  honey hues with a touch of strawberry blonde, or just some much needed shine after the change of season from summer to fall. Whether you are a brunette, a blonde, or a  beautiful redhead, there are so many ways to refresh your color. What are you doing to your hair?

simply red + { lipstick and an updo kit}

This redhead is so coppery and caught my eye, What do you think of the style?

I came upon this lovely lip post with all of the right colors for a redhead, which one do you favor? I love the last pale tone and the middle red.
More red lips here and timeless make up to keep me inspired

I love this a little kit with all of the essentials for a lovely ponytail, twist, or piled up barrel curls

One of my make up models from Chicago Futurevision (a trade show geared to inspire). I think when the hair is this fierce the make up should be soft and subtle. although she could rock a red lip on the runway too!

Inspiration {discipline}

Discipline does take a lot of time and practice just like yoga .  So many good things in my day to day life that take time and practice, practice, practice. Inspired by this lovely lady's rocking redhead, I recently took one of my blondes this color, she loves it. Had the opportunity to create a new look on some really kinky, hair like this. The trick is conditioned hair and the right products for this curly texture. I used the brazilian blowout masque, which I find leaves my brazilian blowouts so conditioned when followed by the proper after care at at home, more about the brazilian blowout here. Practice and education is essential for staying on top of my game. Have had the pleasure of working and learning with Nick Arrojo and inspired by all of his razor cutting techniques which men and women alike ask for in the salon.  Beside's all the beautiful wedding hair, I find myself so inspired with the billowy, soft, updo's, that can easily be worn for a day to night time look like this. Enhancing a clients new look with make up and a soft summer liner, is like the icing on the cupcakes, speaking of, do these not look divine? A great recipe here. Some much needed obedience classes here have been making my mornings brighter, it's amazing how the essence of what we learn in one area, in this case, discipline, relaxation, obedience, can enhance our lives in other areas. More puppy love here, and some lovely, lash inspiration here.
