curly girls

the appeal of gold locks

does Halle Berry ever have a bad hair day?
Keri Russell cut her curls off once and created a stir
Annalynne McCord's blonde highlights and honey hues compliment her green eyes

Lots of Holiday shopping in progress this weekend, but not for me  I was returning these shoes. I couldn't help but compliment a girl on her beautiful curly hair. Her mother promptly gave me the goods on her hair product, Mixed Chicks has made a difference in saving her from a frizzy nightmare. I recommend a clarifying shampoo for  all hair types especially curly hair to de-frizz,de-tangle, and add shine. I tend to look a frizzy mess myself sometimes without the flatiron, and without serums to soften the curl. For the early morning walks I just throw on a hat like this. Another one of my favorites for daytime were floral headbands like this until my I lent mine to my 4 year old niece and loved how darling it looked on her. What was I thinking?  What are your favorite go to products to tame your bedhead?

floral headbands + springy curls

how much is too big for a floral headband?

perfect for a spring soirre wedding
soft waves look best tosseled with fingers or with a little fluff from a brush
ballerina inspired poses, tulle skirts, and shoes like this make me want to dance too

These lovely floral and ribbon inspired headbands are so romantic and can do a lot for a bad hair day as seen here. I like the non-traditional vibe for a Spring Wedding as well. Maybe it's just Spring Fever lately that makes me want to think with reckless abandon about all the fabulous things to do with hair and texture and romantic curls like this. A flip of your curling iron spiraling in different directions about an inch or so away from the crown can give a more casual look. For added softness and stay a dab of Mousse Forte on dry hair before curling does the trick using a brush like this to soften into cascading waves.

sonia rykiel for h&m

The Parisian launch of the Sonia Rykiel for H&M collection At the Grand Palais the night was transformed into a fantasy version of the city of love. With all of the quirkiness and fun that fashion should have. Girls with wild hair on bikes sporting Sonia's knitwear line that will be launched in February. The latest lingerie line will be available this Saturday, December 5 and in my hometown store in Pasadena. I included some of my favorites and of course it's all about the wild, curly hair, looks good with sexy lingerie don't you think? This kind of kinkiness in the hair can be achieved by taking wide and sections of hair and spraying with a little shine and define wrap around the barrel of a small to medium size curling iron and voila!

women of color

I am fortunate to be in an industry where I am able to lay my hands on clients with beautiful skin and hair of all color. They range from straight to curly , luscious heads of hair with texture and body. I was reminded of this when I passed one of my neighbors as she was running off to catch her ride, with her lovely, dark, fro, flying behind her. I always am amazed how the littlest things just make my day and inspire me. I asked her once what made her skin glow and her secret, vaseline! Iman has some wonderful tips for bronzing and more. I am hairdresser as well, so I couldn't finish this page with out leaving some tips from a great website specializing in curly hair needs.
